Engineering Manager

Do you think you could play a key role in our continued commitment to providing a first-class bus network? Then we need you. We are looking for an experienced engineer to help lead the Bannockburn Engineering team as our Engineering Manager .

You will be helping to lead a dedicated and experienced team including engineers, painters, electricians and coachbuilders supporting, advising, and managing them to maintain and repair our modern fleet - not just to industry standards but to the McGill’s Midland Bluebird standards of quality and safety. Cleaning and aesthetics are very important to us, and you will be able to drive those standards to the next level. You will also manage plant equipment and buildings, playing your part to ensure we set standards that others strive to achieve.

This is a key role within the Bluebird team, you will be working to achieve KPI targets, financial budget and spend targets and health and safety requirements as well as vehicle standards and OCRS performance. It goes without saying that we will support you during your Midland Bluebird journey to be a brilliant Workshop Manager - so if you need training, development or just the input of the wider team we will be here for you.

Now to what we need from you as our next Assistant Engineering Manager:

  • Minimum 2 year’s experience as a manager/supervisor.
  • Bus/truck or light commercial experience is preferred - but let us know if you come from a different background and we can see how this would work.
  • Transport Managers CPC is preferred although training will be given.
  • People management won’t be new to you, leading a team is key to this role so experience of this is required.
  • Have a passion for engineering and a focus on standards and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help deliver both DVSA and company standards ensuring a focus on standards, quality, and engineering performance.
  • Focus on MOT pass rates and OCRS compliance.
  • Efficiently allocate resources with a focus on budget adherence, ensuring that standards and safety are a focus while working on the
