UCI Cycling World Championships

The UCI Cycling World Championships will take place from 3rd – 13th August 2023 with a number of race events scheduled to take place around Stirling, Falkirk and Glasgow. Leave the car at home and get there by bus! Buses will continue to run with some diversions in place.

Check out our summary below to find out which closures are in place and how services are affected:
X10/X10A – Stirling to Glasgow
Dates: Friday 4th to Saturday 5th August and Monday 7th to Tuesday 8th August
Information: Due to the Road Race City Centre Circuit, Renfrew Street and Hope Street bus stops will not be in use. Services to Glasgow will instead continue to Buchanan Bus Station via Cowcaddens Road, North Hanover Street, Killermont Street. Services to Stirling will operate a normal route after Cowcaddens Road, please board from Buchanan Bus Station at stance 34.
Dates: Sunday 6th August, and Saturday 12th August to Sunday 13th August
Information: Significant disruption is expected on these dates.
Station Road, Balfron will be closed. Buses to and from Glasgow will be subject to temporary delays whilst the race passes through the centre of Balfron.
Maryhill Road, between Bearsden and Glasgow city centre will be closed and bus stops from Hillfoot Station in Bearsden will not be in use. Services to Glasgow will instead continue to Buchanan Bus Station via the Switchback Road, Bearsden Road and Crow Road, Clydeside Expressway, Cowcaddens Road, North Hanover Street, Killermont Street. Services to Stirling will operate this same route, please board from Buchanan Bus Station at stance 34.
Dates: Wednesday 9th to Friday 11th August ( 09: 00 – 1800 ) each day
Information: Thornilll & Blairhoyle
On Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 August between 0900 – 1800 each day, service X10A will be diverted between Blairdrummond and Port of Menteith and will not serve Blairhoyle ,Thornhill or Ruskie.
The nearest alternative bus stops being Port of Menteith & Blairdrummond Community Hall on the A84.

X36/X37– Stirling (X36) / Falkirk (X37) to Glasgow
Dates: Friday 4th to Saturday 5th August and Monday 7th to Tuesday 8th August
Information: Due to the Road Race City Centre Circuit, Stirling Road and Cathedral Street bus stops will not be in use. Services to Glasgow will instead continue to Buchanan Bus Station via M8, North Hanover Street, Killermont Street. Services to Stirling/Falkirk will operate a normal route after the M8, please board from Buchanan Bus Station at stance 43.

Dates: Sunday 6th August
Information: Due to the Men’s Elite Road Race, there will be a number of road closures throughout Falkirk and Denny. No diversions will be in place so the following services will be temporarily suspended:
- The 1 (ex Dunipace): 09:23 will terminate at Falkirk; 10:23,10:53 amd 11:23 will not run. Services will resume from 11:53
- The 1 (ex Maddiston): 09:54 will terminate at Camelon; 10:24 and 10:54 will not run. Services will resume from 11:24
- The 2 (ex Falkirk): 10:59 will not operate
- The 2 (ex Bo'ness): 09:55 and 10:55 will terminate at Grangemouth Charing Cross
- The 3/4 (ex Falkirk): 10:30 will start at Park Street; 11:00 will start at Falkirk college campus
- The 3/4 (ex Grangemouth): 10:30 will terminate at Falkirk college campus
- The 5 (ex Langlees): 09:50 will terminate at Falkirk; 10:20 and 10:50 will not run. Services will resume from 11:20
- The 5 (ex Hallglen): 09:48 will terminate at Falkirk; 10:18 and 10:48 will not run. Services will resume from 11:18
- The 6/6A (ex Tamfourhill): 09:35 will terminate at Falkirk; 10:25 and 10:33 will not run. Services will resume from 11:25
- The 6/6A (ex FVRH): 10:15 and 10:40 will not run. Services will resume from 11:15
- The X37 (ex Glasgow): 09:55 will terminate at Castlecary The X37 (ex Falkirk): 11:24 will start at Castlecary
- The 38/X38 (ex Stirling): 10:00 and 10:30 will terminate at FVRH before running non-stop via the M876 and M9 to Laurieston and then continuing as an X38 towards Edinburgh. Services will resume from 11:00
- The X38/38 (ex Edinburgh/Linlithgow): 0915 and 1043 will terminate at Laurieston before running nonstop via the M9 and M876 to FVRH and then continuing as a 38 towards Stirling. Services will resume from 10:15
